Social Media and the President

I do believe that social media will continue its role in advertising Obama’s campaign. Social media has become a huge part of today’s society with its growing popularity. The top social sites include Facebook, Twitter and YouTube. These sites have taken interests in many businesses, celebrities and now recently the President of the United States. They partner up with the social networks to advertise themselves and personally connect with the public.

I think that social media is not over hyped because people are interested in what everyone has to say. They enjoy knowing what Obama does with his spare time and the way he interacts with his fans. He has not only gained respect from America, but also from other countries around the world. His popularity has grown around the world because of his social media status. Overall, Obama has gained a strong amount of votes because he was the first President to successfully use social media to help his campaign. Through his rising popularity I believe this will help him win the 2012 election.

  1. I completely agree with this post. The fact that Obama created an entire campaign by simply interacting with the public via social media is a complete reflection that social media is not an over-hyped phenomenon.
